Seen it I guess
Great animation, as usual, but the I've seen that story been done quite a few times already. Quite unoriginal...
Still, great stuff. But please, make the story more original.

wasn't aware it had been done before. i do not make cartoons because i've seen them been done 'quite a few times'.
Very charming
Great work at trying to replicate the cartoons of the 30's. Appreciate the effort. Why not go the route of something like Triplets of Bellville and set your story during that era, with bright visuals, and nods to characters of that time?
Just wondering...
Begin the fallout
I cried during the funeral scene. Not for Mario's 'mentally challanged' death, but for the intellect of Newground patrons who gave this a five and ten. Infantile fart jokes, Titanic music, bombs in the butt - this is the best Newgrounds has to offer?
And this film is reaching 2 million views? Yes, we all love Mario, but this is getting ridiculous. There is nothing redeeming about this. 9.52 over 10 for fart jokes?
Good effort, but improve on execution
The art was above average, and the sound is nice.
The anticipation of who the heck was the guy's girlfriend isn't bad, but towards the end - once we 'see' the punch line, it well... was good... but almost fell flat. I just got startled, chuckled a little. I was expecting to guffaw because it was funny, but something about it wasn't THAT insane.
Perhaps the reactions of the guy's buddies weren't animated enough or they weren't demented enough? I don't know.
It's still very good, and you should make more of this demented love stuff. Go to the darkside with these weirdos.
Nothing short of amazing
Longish, but great. Excellent in just about everything, but I have to admit, towards the end the stick figure style made me long for real people.

If your intention was to say that Phoenix Wrong: Last Stand was a film that did not deserve the attention it got over the past week - I salute you. You are the man. You stood up and pointed out the WRONG in Pheonix Wrong. You deserve a medal for standing up to that pile of unoriginality.
You showed those authors that creating a flash with sound clips ripped from movies and pasting them together does not make for a good and funny flash film. Words cannot express my gratitude for making this flash. It doesn't matter if the sound quality sucked, I think it may have been artistically intentional.
Remember kids: a pastiche of sound clips from movies does not make a good flash.
Masterpiece?
This is truly an astounding piece of work. It reminded me a lot of something... animator Ralph Bashki would make. I guess it had a lot to do with the rotoscoping. Great stuff, love seeing rotoscoping in flash. That's real animation. (I'm not sure if others would agree though)
It felt very 80's, with that compelling animated movie 'adventure' atmosphere going on. The only problem is the voice acting for the characters, who sound too much like the guy you meet in the street. Not much depth in their performances... Maybe if you had gotten a British guy to voice or something... In terms of story, its been seen before in other media, but that's there's somethign fresh about it in Flash form I suppose!
I hope this series continues...
I didn't know what the term "rotoscoping" meant until you used it. I looked it up in wikipedia, and it said that rotoscoping is when you project film of live actors onto glass or paper and trace their bodies for each frame. I didn't do that. I drew each of those characters from scratch. However, I was trying very hard to make their movements realistic.
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts...
I stand by my review
However odd the popularity of the film is, it's still terrible in my book. Animation is simply traced or something from the original game, and the humor consists of playing sound clips from films. Many other Newground comedies are being overlooked and I think it is a shame something as unoriginal as this is #1.
Ah!
Pure genius? The first scene involving the.... rubber grape and the odd stare the vendor gave the guy - damn that reminded me of something the creator of Ren & Stimpy would do! Brilliant! (I hope you don't like being compared)
The scenes where characters (not so subtle-y) change their expressions after a square does something odd offered the most comedic value to me.
I'm now wondering why you won't enter this in some competition like that Nickeloedeon Cartoon Festival... (that already ended!)
The problem with that festival is that they only accept entries that are in video form. I dont have the pc power or technology to convert a flash file into Quicktime. So I'm rather screwed.
Robotech all the way! Despite the poor ratings...
